This is mine and Melissa’s impersonation of a penis a la “Bride’s Maids.” We went to the movies but nothing seemed appealing, but watching Brides Maids for a second time was definitely a must. Had a good time with her because I haven’t seen her since her birthday party, which is almost a month! Glad I got to see her :)

Went over to Elaine and Jonathan’s house for Jonathan’s birthday. Had a ton of Filipino BBQ and panset and gorged myself on coke. It was not the healthiest day, but it was very tasty. Of course, karaoke was a given, however, not everyone was great at it. And I think we can all agree after a couple drinks, it’s hard to be talented at a thing like karaoke.

This wasn’t considered a staff night, but I REALLY needed to go out and figured it’d be nice to relax after the long day at Knotts. Went with Jen and Austin and had plans to go to Islands, but since we all love sushi oh so much, we went to Dono instead. After we went to starbucks where Brittany ended up meeting us and had a good conversation about politics, religion, books and other topics you don’t typically have nowadays, which is a shame, but really glad we had this night out :)

Knott’s Berry Farm- 7.6.2011

Took the campers to Knott’s Berry Farm! It was a little cray cray what with all the kids and having to decide which rides were safe for them and who could actually ride them. By the end of the day all the campers we were watching had a good time. I think I enjoyed Perilous Plunge the most. It’s a very quick ride, but was a huge as drop into water and a little nerve wrecking considering the fact that one of the campers was crying on the way up the roller coaster. Twas a good day.

Staff Night @ Jen’s House- 7.1.2011

Jen was sweet enough to let us have our staff night at her place, which was a much cheaper and more intimate idea than last week. Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun last week’s staff night too, but it was nice to not have to worry about being too loud or obnoxious to disrupt the other patrons. Like I could care about the other patrons, psshh. Wonder what next week’s staff night is gonna be.

Today’s craft for the kids was either to make pet rocks or make masks. Naturally, I did both. It’s really rewarding to be able to provide fun activities for kids and watch them enjoy themselves. Just another day at work :)

6.25.2011- Gilda’s Graduation Party

My aunt Gilda graduated from USC with a PhD in psychology this past semester and I could not be any more proud. Her celebration was today and if it weren’t for the fact that I was designated driver, I would’ve loaded up on more jello-shots and pina colada margaritas. Congratulations again, G-Money.

6.24.2011- Staff Night at RA Sushi

Our first staff night of the year went pretty well. I had a lot of fun, especially lounging in the couches of the restaurant for the very first time. Looking at our staff, I think we have a great mix of personalities and hard workers. I’m excited for the many more staff nights that are to come in the future :)

I understand some people in the gay community are taking back the word “gays” to celebrate their homosexuality. It’s cool that it’s become a word of empowerment, however, I do not enjoy being referred to as a “gay.” I also do not like being referred to as “the gays” when I’m with a group of other homosexual individuals.

A) I’m not an anomaly, I have a name.

B) I don’t call others Blacks, Whites, Chineses, Mexicans, etc.

C) I’m an individual, therefore not a part of a set of “gays”

D) I am gay, however that is not all that I am.

So please, if you ever refer to me, call me Ryan. Thanks.

Mani/Pedi Date with Tiffany

So the end of finals and our transferring to universities needed some sort of celebration: mani/pedis. On top of the usual cleaning, cutting, polishing, scrubbing and what have you, I decided to get a mango peel leg scrub, hot towel hand treatments, and lavender forearm scrub. Finals were a bitch and this was the perfect treatment to a job well done.

Melissa’s 21st Surprise Birthday Party- 6.18.2011

I think the party was a success. Saw some old faces that I haven’t seen in years since our graduation, but it was amazing to reconnect nonetheless. My favorite part of the night was playing pool and FINALLY drinking some tequila. I had 8 glasses of mimosa and was pretty fine, but I guess some of my friends noticed I was more giddy than usual. Later when most of the guests had left, Melissa, Lauren, and I took some tequila shots. I think I’m better with alcohol in my system because I have never played pool so well until after 5 and 1/2 tequila shots. Long story short, it was a great night for me and I hope it was for the birthday girl as well!

Camille & Chelsea O’Camb

The masterminds behind the party. Camille was the party planner and put all of these ideas together. She literally slaved away to every single last detail and everything came out amazing. The flags were the biggest annoyance having to cut paste and cut again, but it was all worth it. Everyone loved the decorations and Camille should be proud. Chelsea was the baker and made almost every single dessert on the dessert table. Amazing what this perfect child can do at just the age of 14.

Speech 7- Intercultural Communications

This was probably my favorite class of the semester. It’s very rare when you’re in a class where the subject is interesting, the professor is amazing, and the whole class gets along. It was very stimulating to be in class everyday and learn that everyone has their own demons when it comes to racism, stereotypes, prejudice, etc. I think my favorite moment was the flash mob. It was very nerve racking but it was an embarrassment we could all share.

My first time at Roscoe’s was a little bittersweet. Bitter because Monet and I had planned on going to an extra credit lecture before eating dinner at Roscoe’s, but because of some unfortunate events, we missed out on the lecture and experienced the sweet part that is their delicious and simple food. I don’t enjoy eating food with my hands unless appropriate, so it comes as a shock as I was more than willing to devour my fried chicken with my claws. The omelet was to die for, but by the end of dinner I was ready to roll on home.

I’m finally looking forward to the future. I used to be so afraid of it, but honestly, I don’t think there’s any other way to deal with the future. There’s no other way I can think of facing it than to be incredibly terrified to embark on a new journey. There’s no other rush than diving into something different in complete fear. There’s something liberating in being utterly afraid but facing your demons anyway.

I’ve lived in the suburbs for all my life. I’ve kept myself to a strict schedule that I only break on special occasions. I’ve expected the same things every year. And I’ve kept close to the company I’ve had for a long time. I’m so grateful for all these things, especially the people who have kept me sane when I’m close to pulling my hair out.There’s gonna be so many things that I’m going to miss, but they’re only a car ride or train ride away. It really is time for me to enter a new chapter in my life where nothing is familiar, everything is new, and where fear awaits me.

Kenny asked me to marry him on Saturday/Sunday. And of course, I said YESSSS and burst into happy tears. I definitely did not expect him to propose, or that I would cry. Called the family and texted friends all weekend and today.

I wouldn’t want it any other way. Ken is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
